Mitre saws are designed to make clean and precise angled cuts through materials, such as wood, laminate and sheets of metal, and allow you to rotate the blade and change the cutting angle at the same time. They make it easy for you to cut door frames, window casings, picture frames and more.
As a premier supplier of woodworking machinery – established in 1987 – Kendal Tools is delighted to stock mitre saws from leading manufacturers, including SIP, Scheppach and Fox to name a few. And our saws are suitable for both professional trade use and home DIY.

A complete range of mitre saws
When shopping for mitre saws you’ll likely encounter a myriad of options and price points. So, if you’re to make an informed choice about which mitre saw is best for you, it helps if you know a little bit about them first.
There are several types of mitre saws on the market today. And compound mitre saws are just one example. With these, complex cuts are made using a circular saw blade that pivots on an adjustable arm – allowing you to achieve different mitres and bevels. They are particularly useful for installing crown moulding and architrave when you need to cut two angles.
Another popular type is the sliding mitre saw. Although these cut similar angles, the saw head is mounted on a rail and slides backwards and forwards. Mitre saws like these are ideal for tackling larger pieces of timber (e.g. laminate flooring, floorboards and decking) as the blade can move.
We currently have four sliding mitre saws in stock:

All are powerful, lightweight and easy to use, however, the most suitable one for you will depend on your budget and your project requirements.
As well as these, we also supply double-bevel mitre saws. These are the same as compound saws only they tilt left and right – allowing you to cut bevels at any angle. No more having to flip your workpiece over, time and time again.

Are mitre saws suitable for beginner woodworkers?
Easy enough for a beginner and versatile enough for almost any project, the mitre saw is considered an ideal first saw for DIY enthusiasts and beginner woodworkers alike. The mitre saw can deliver a range of cuts, including the mitre, bevel, and cross-cut, allowing users to try their hand at a wide range of projects. The mitre saw also includes a few safety features that can help newbies feel more confident, such as the handle and trigger and blade guard. The handle and trigger are reminiscent of that on a lawnmower, helping you start and stop the blade while the blade guard covers the blade and retracts as you lower it – helping users keep all their fingers. Simple to operate and with long-lasting tungsten carbide-tipped blades, if you choose a good quality mitre saw, those DIY or woodworking projects can be completed quickly and simply. For help choosing your first mitre saw, reach out to our expert team. All tools from Kendal Tools & Machinery are chosen by us personally, meaning we will know just what you need. Call us on 01539 733 774 or click on the enquiry form to the right of your screen, fill it out, and we’ll be in touch as soon as we can to help you.
Where can I buy replacement mitre blades?
Each of our mitre saws comes with a blade to get you started. However, if you need additional mitre blades, look no further than our wide range of replacement mitre blades. Tooth shapes can vary, delivering the ability to cut different materials, so whether you need a blade suitable for hardwoods or simple MDF, we have the blade for you. The number of teeth determines the speed of cutting, type, and finish. Fewer teeth guarantee faster cutting speeds with rougher cuts, while an increased number of teeth creates a finer finish. As most mitre saws require high-quality TCT blades, we also stock a wide variety of tungsten carbide-tipped circular blades, specifically designed for use in mitre or circular saws. For more information about which blade is the perfect fit for your new mitre saw, either view the product information on each saw (which lists the correct blade diameter, bore size, and blade speed), or give our experts a call on 01539 733 774 and we’ll help find your additional mitre blades.
Do I need a mitre saw stand?
Mitre saws do not require a stand to function correctly, so not everyone chooses to purchase a universal mitre stand with their mitre saw. However, for those looking for increased accuracy and productivity, a mitre saw stand is considered essential – even more so for those working with wood as part of their job. A sturdy, high-quality stand will ensure your saw doesn’t wobble or shake during use, thereby improving the accuracy of each cut you make. Similarly, from a health and safety perspective, using a mitre saw stand stops you from stooping during cutting, which may not be a big concern if you use a mitre saw infrequently. However, if you spend a lot of time using the saw, you put yourself at risk of developing back pain and stress in the body. To find your ideal universal mitre stand or workstation, browse our selection from Scheppach, which includes the UMF1550, the UMF1600, and UMF2000 or the SIP01962.
